Caring for your Cat at home

Cats like to play. If you are getting one, you should know the basics about house cat care.

When you bring your cat home, you should give it his or her own room for the time being with water, food, and a bed. If it has not yet been trained to go to the toilet, you should start teaching it, so there are no stains on the carpet.

Teaching your cat how to use the litter box can initially be done by carrying your cat to it when nature calls. When you see the cat can do it by herself, praise her and reward her, so she knows that this is the right way to do it.

The exact size of the litter box depends on the size of the cat. The litter box must be cleaned naturally using soap and water, do not use disinfectants.

Suppose ever they do something naughty like climb up on the table or scratch the furniture. In that case, you must never admonish your cats as they are susceptible animals. You can urge discipline without causing any harm by squirting water on their face.

Make sure there are food and water at all times. The feeding dishes and bowls should be made either of plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel, and they should be cleaned often. Disposed of any unfinished food properly.

The cat's diet must come from high-quality cat food, and while this may be more expensive than the food from the other brands, you know that it has the right vitamins and minerals to keep them healthy. You can also give them supplements. Omega 3 fatty acids are one example that is good for their nutrition.

For those with other pets in the house, you should give the two pets some time to get to know each other. If you have a dog in your home, keep it on its leash at first. If you have another cat, be ready to break off a fight since this typically happens.

You must set strict house rules regarding what your cat can and cannot do in the home. For instance, you can decide whether the cat may be allowed out of the house even if the experts have said they must always be confined indoors. There are other similar questions which you have to discuss among yourselves.

To prevent any damage to your fittings, you must also get your cat a scratching pad. This should be three feet in height and placed either near the furniture or the cat's bed. You better trim their nails when they get too sharp so they don't hurt you or themselves.

One of the most essential things about cat care is proper grooming. You can bathe the cat by wetting its head and tail with a shampoo. Never lather their eyes or ears and dry them using a clean towel. Lightly brush the hair and apply combing powder so it never gets tangled with each other.

Bring your cat to the vet regularly. When you see something different in their behavior, quick thinking could prevent a possible sickness from getting worse. If you don't know any right vet, get a recommendation from your friends or your neighbors.

Housecat care is challenging but rewarding. You just have to give the time and effort when you decide to bring a cat into your home.
