Today, Persian cats are among the foremost popular breeds of cats. Persian cats have handsome features that are well known for their gentle and sweet personalities and long hair. They're great friends for virtually anyone and not very demanding. Not like the other breeds, like the Siamese breed, Persian cat breeds need very little attention.
Although white is the color generally associated with Persian cats, they actually come in various other colors. During competitions, they're divided into seven colors – silver, solid, and gold, shaded and smoke, tabby, bicolor, parti-color, and Himalayan. No matter what color the Persian cat may be, they are best noticed by their lovely long and fluid fur.
Persian cats are better to be always kept inside of your home to protect their coat. If they walk outside, they can easily damage it. They also need to be brushed daily with a metal comb, or their fur can become tangled, which will lead to hairballs. You'll need to bathe your Persian cat regularly as well, to help protect his hair. Bathing works best when the cat is little, as it will get him used to it at an early age. Bathing should never be disregarded, as it will keep your cat's coat clean and healthy. Some breeds can maintain their furry coats on their own, but Persian cats can't. Their fur is too long and dense, and you'll have to groom them daily to ensure their hair stays in good condition.
The Persian breed is kind and sweet, entirely getting along with everybody – including kids. They have a lovely voice that is always good to listen to. Using their voice and eyes, they communicate very well with their owners. They are very spirited, yet they don't require a lot of attention. However, they love attention and love being praised. Not like other cats, they don't climb and jump too much. They aren't unfavorable either; they just love being appreciated and lying around. Most of the time, Persian cats love to bask in the sun and show others just how beautiful they are.
Although most cats can be kept indoors or outside, Persian cats should always be kept inside and never allowed to go out of the house. Keeping them inside will protect their coats and hold diseases and common parasites away from them. You won't have to worry about dogs or cars either if you keep your cat inside.
To ensure that your Persian cat stays healthy, you should always take him to the vet annually. If you care for your cat well, such as doing checkups, shots, and grooming, Persian cats can live as long as 20 years. You'll need to be aware of one thing that's shared with Persians, and it's their eyes. Their eyes are enormous and can sometimes be too hard for the cat to clean. This is a common problem with the Persian cat breed and can become a health problem. Their eyes should be checked periodically to make sure that it doesn't get out of control.
When you compare Persians to other cat breeds, you'll notice that the Persians are among the easiest to keep. You don't have to worried about things like your cat jumping or climbing, as Persians don't like to do it either. All you have to do is give food to your cat regularly and groom him or her daily. Grooming can be a lot of challenging work in the long run. But it's worth it when you have a healthy and wonderful Persian cat.
